Waitsfield, Vermont — It’s been a good start to the season at Mad River Glen.
The Vermont ski area opened for the season on December 7th thanks to some late November and early December snowfall. MRG has kept a good chunk of its terrain open throughout the season so far despite a couple of freeze-thaw cycles. After four inches of snowfall earlier this week, Mad River Glen is in prime shape for the holiday week.
Yesterday, Mad River Glen opened three more trails, allowing it to be 100% open. This included its signature trail. Yesterday, ski patrol dropped the ropes on Paradise, the steep and narrow black diamond trail that is regarded as one of the toughest runs in the Northeast. The run starts as a narrow corridor through the woods. Then comes the waterfall, the signature feature which requires skiers to face it head-on. From there, the steepness doesn’t stop, as it eventually takes you through the trees.
In addition, Mad River Glen opened the Birdland chair today, meaning all of its five lifts are operating.
As always, Ski It If You Can!
