Pagosa Springs, Colorado – Thanks to a deep snowstorm this weekend, Wolf Creek Ski Area is opening for the season this week.

Today, the Colorado ski area announced that it will open for the season on Tuesday, October 22nd, thanks to 21″ of new snowfall. For opening day, the Bonanza, Treasure, Nova, and Magic Carpet lifts will operate, resulting in 30% of the terrain being open. Lift ticket prices will be $68 for adults, $49 for senior citizens, and $34 for kids. From there, they plan on operating seven days a week.

Opening day will officially start the festivities for Wolf Creek’s 85th anniversary. On opening day, Wolf Creek will give stickers to people who wear red and gold. Some of the other planned festivities for this season include a Vintage Ski Selfie-Station on November 23rd, 85-cent cupcakes during anniversary event days, an 85th Anniversary Fun Race on February 9th, and the chance to win various prizes throughout the winter.

Barring a surprising opening announcement from Arapahoe Basin or another ski resort, Wolf Creek will likely be the first ski area in North America to have consistent lift-serviced operations for the 2024-25 season. However, Ski Ward has a temporary opening this weekend, so they won’t be the first outdoor ski area to offer lift-service skiing in North America this season.
