Tasmania – Australia has had a fairly rough season. A warm start led to delayed openings, they didn’t receive a lot of snow during the heart of winter, and they had a warm spring. Perisher is the only remaining ski resort opening on the main island. However, the ski areas of Tasmania are seeing a late-season surge thanks to a couple of rounds of snowfall over the past few weeks.
Ben Lomond had an up-and-down season but has seen an improvement in conditions in September. Thanks to snowfall and snowmaking, they were able to stay open last weekend, but webcam videos show a minimal snowpack at this point. Ben Lomond last operated on Sunday, with the ski area allowing the Summit T-bar to bring skiers up past Tower 2.
Mount Mawson, which relies on natural snowfall, started its ski season late. Snow fell in late August and last week, leading to the opening of its rope tows on September 1st for skiing and riding.
According to Weatherzone, their snow depth was estimated to be at 80 cm (around 31.5 inches) last weekend.
In their latest snow report, they detailed excellent conditions over this past weekend and expressed optimism that they could be skiing next weekend as well, as snow could be coming on Wednesday and Thursday.
