Stockholm, Sweden — One of the biggest companies in ski resort technology has been sold.
Last week, it was announced that the ASSA ABLOY Group reached an agreement to acquire SKIDATA from the Kudelski Group. Based in Sweden, ASSA ABLOY focuses on entrance impediments, such as locks, doors, and gates. This matches with SKIDATA’s business goals, which has access control technology in various industries. For ski resorts, SKIDATA sells self-service ticket kiosks, RFID tickets, direct to lift gates, and parking management. Their products also can be used in other sectors, like sporting venues and parking garages.
Massimo Grassi, who’s the Executive Vice President of ASSA ABLOY and Head of the Entrance Systems Division, said the following about the acquisition:
“SKIDATA’s attractive product portfolio and strong performance in access solutions will enhance and complement our current offering. Its commitment to secure, reliable access solutions and excellent customer service aligns perfectly with our values, and I’m convinced that together, we will continue our successful journey.”
They expect the transaction to close in the third quarter of 2024.
