Snowmass Village, Colorado — In response to a lack of affordable housing in Pitkin County, the Aspen Skiing Company (SkiCo) plans to build more employee housing units.

The Aspen Times reports that the SkiCo is planning to build around thirty employee housing units on Divide Road. They presented these plans to the Snowmass Town Council meeting on Monday. SkiCo already has six employee housing units on Divide Road, so this would expand their offerings close to Snowmass Resort. It would be the first employee housing project for the Aspen Skiing Company since their Hub at Willits development opened to workers in 2021. The new project will have to go through an employee housing mitigation plan, which is required by the municipality of Snowmass Village. They plan to submit the pre-application and more information to the Town Council and Planning Commission soon.

At the meeting, the Aspen Ski Company also dove into its plans to expand Lynn Cabin. These improvements include renovating the back of the house and kitchen prep areas, expanding the bathrooms, and building an outdoor concrete deck that will have dining seats, a mobile bar and grill, a DJ area, and an enclosed umbrella with windscreens.

The Lynn Cabin project, which was approved at Monday’s meeting, will begin construction this offseason to coincide with the new Coney Express chairlift. The Cabin is situated near the mid-station for the future lift. Both projects have a projected opening for the 2024-25 season.
