Presidential Range, New Hampshire – If you don’t like the weather on Mt. Washington, wait a minute.
The tallest peak in New Hampshire features a variety of weather conditions, including heavy rain, snow, and winds. Last week, it even saw its warmest temperatures for June 19th and 20th. However, winter briefly returned to Mt. Washington today.
This morning, the temperature on the peak of Mt. Washington dropped to 27 degrees, the lowest daily temperature for this date.
Mount Washington State Park Supervisor Patrick Hummel photographed rime ice at the summit. Rime ice is where crystal droplets freeze due to heavy winds and fog, making Mt. Washington a prime spot for this to occur. The photo is a reminder that while we’re officially in summer, winter is coming.
